LA EDUCACIÓN PROHIBIDA

La Educación Prohíbida is an Argentinean documentary released in 2012. This documentary shows nonconventional educational experiences in Latin America and Spain and it is regarded as one of the most successful crowdfunding filming experiences with more than 10,000,000 free downloads in a copyleft model.

I am particularly interested in your opinion about this documentary given that we are discussing pedagogical models and theories from different parts of the world. Please watch the documentary, prepare some popcorn and a fresh beverage and enjoy.

After watching it, select one of the following questions and write your answer for everybody to see and share. Please feel free to react to your classmates comments, if necessary.

  1. Is schooling or formal education fulfilling the demands of young children and teenagers? Why or why not?
  2. What elements of the active schools approach are you particularly drawn to? Why?
  3. Is promoting competition among students a good practice? Why or why not?
  4. One of the pedagogical principles supported by the active school approach is “Students go to school to succeed, not fail”. Following this principle, what changes would you implement in your school to guarantee successful learning?
